Job Shadow Description

Pharmacy Technician Class

California industry research estimates that Pharmacy Technician employment is expected to increase by 18.5% or 5800 new jobs by year 2022. This is due to the expansion of retail pharmacies, the need to replace workers who retire or transfer and the increase in pharmaceutical needs of a larger and older population. Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. They accept prescriptions and refills, assist customers, verify medication information, create labels for packages, prepare medications and manage inventory control of medications and supplies, and record information and data on patient profiles.
